If you'd like to connect to Nocturnal State BBS, just open your favorite ANSI-capable telnet client and point it to nsbbs.darktech.org.
If you are going to call the BBS for the first time, please be aware that I do ask for your "real life" information before you have access to the BBS. I do this for my own protection and for yours. I also do it so I can contact you in case there's a problem with the account or the BBS. Besides that, you're a guest in my house and I expect to know who's in my house. If you can't feel that you can trust me with that data then please don't waste my time or yours and call back wondering why your account never got approved for full access. No one will ever have access to that information except me and I will never give out any of the information unless ordered by a court.
Nocturnal State BBS (or NSBBS for short) is a member of Fidonet (1:18/200), EzyNet (151:1201/102) and Gatornet (69:69/9). It is also the home of Cheepware, my line of freeware BBS doors and sysop utilities and an official Ezycom BBS beta test site. The BBS also specializes in sysop and OS/2 support...especially OS/2 sysop support! However, there is something for everyone at Nocturnal State. Here's some things that you might like:
- Message areas: NSBBS carries message areas both locally and internationally via Fidonet, Gatornet and EzyNet (although EzyNet currently is restricted to registered Ezycom BBS sysops). There are a variety of subjects, ranging from politics to cooking to just general chit-chat. I don't carry all of the echoes (message areas) that are offered in all of the networks, but there are hundreds of echoes to choose from so if you know of one you want, ask me and I'll see what I can do. You can also get your offline QWK and/or Blue Wave packet fix here!
- File areas: There are currently over 20,000 files available for download. You name it, we've got it (except for anything "adult"). I specialize in older files and I like to collect files that are utilitarian and are useful to me. I have a lot of DOS-based programs as well as OS/2 programs. I mainly specialize in OS/2, sysop support and ham radio related files. I also like to collect MealMaster recipe archives.
- Doors: Choices, choices! There's a good selection of BBS doors to choose from: Exitilus*, Flip The Bits, The Magic Oracle, StackEm*, LORD* and Triple Yahtzee*. There's more if people ask for them, such as The Clans, Gothik and many others. If you know of a door that's not on the BBS, ask and I'll try to get your favorite door on for you if I can. (* = registered door - those without a * are freeware)
- Personalized service: Calling a BBS isn't like logging into some anonymous website. When you call NSBBS, you are a guest in my home (in fact, I often can see people logging in as the BBS is next to the TV in my living room). If you page and I'm able to answer, I'll be more than happy to chat with you. I care about my callers and enjoy hearing feedback from them, whether good or bad.
